(Photo : Steam) Valve has removed Paranautical Activity, a FPS roguelike, after the developed sent a death threat to Valve's Creative Director Gabe Newell.

Valve has a relaxed attitude when it comes to games on the Steam platform, rarely pulling video games from the gaming service, unless a good chunk of the community is angry or the developer has bad relations with Valve.

The latter occurred recently when Paranautical Activity developer Mike Maulbeck decided to go on a Twitter tirade against Valve and Gabe Newell, tweeting "I am going to kill Gabe Newell. He is going to die."

Maulbeck went into this rage because Paranautical Activity was listed as "Early Access" on Steam's Halloween sale, when in truth the FPS roguelike had just come out of early access and was listed as a fully finished games.

Having the game listed as Early Access apparently pulled Maulbeck out of thousands of sales and confused customers who would have otherwise bought the video game. However, he did not show any evidence of the apparent thousands of missed sales.

Maulbeck has since discussed that he did not mean to threaten Gabe Newell and showed the email sent by Valve to Maulbeck about the removal of his game from Steam. Maulbeck has said he is out of video games, claiming Steam is the only way to make money in this industry.

This is not the first time Paranautical Activity has been in the public eye because of issues with Steam. Back when the developer tried to push the game out of Steam Greenlight through the publisher Adult Swim, Valve removed the game from Steam.

It has been a long few years for Maulbeck developing Paranautical Activity. It is still available to the community who bought it, but anyone looking to pick up the game might be hard-pressed to find a distributor available.

Valve declined to comment on the matter.
