Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is injured and is out of his upcoming fight with number one contender Fabricio Werdum. Mark Hunt steps in to face Werdum in the event in Mexico City, UFC 180.
The UFC has just announced that Velasquez has injured his right knee during his training sessions for his upcoming fight.

While Velasquez will not be able to defend his title, he is more disappointed with the fact that he will not be able to fight in front of the fans in Mexico to whom he takes great pride of being a part of.
"To say I was looking forward to fighting in Mexico for the first time is an understatement. I wanted to fight on that card so bad. I'm going to get my [right] knee fixed and get back to training as soon as I can," Velasquez said.
He went on to say that it looks like it wasn't meant to be and he apologizes to the fans in Mexico and hopes to still be a part of the historic event.
Velasquez and Werdum were recently opposing coached on the reality show, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).
For Werdum though, he isn't really sad that he isn't able to fight Cain. For him it is all about the title.
In a recent interview he states that he is ready for whatever may happen. He has been training in Mexico for two month and is prepared to accept any challenge that will come.
He gets his chance at a title shot and a challenge too in the form of Hunt, the "Super Samoan" who is coming off his extremely impressive knockout performance against Roy Nelson.
"First K1 and now UFC - how can I say no, even though it's on short notice? I'm dropping everything and flying to Mexico tomorrow so I can best prepare myself for this fight," Hunt said.
The two fighters will be vying for the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship on UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt, November 15 at the Arena Mexico City.
