The Kansas City Royals almost did not make it to the postseason, when their miraculous season was almost derailed by the Ipad game, Clash of Clans.

For the first time since 1985, the Royals had made it into the postseason. However, the Clash of Clans game, almost derailed their path to the American League Wild Card Game.

Earlier this season, reserve outfielder Jarrod Dyson introduced the free massive multiplayer strategy game to outfielder Lorenzo Cain.

After that, the Kansas City clubhouse seemed to change, as more and more players began playing the game. It became a fixture within the clubhouse.

The first half of their season was generally good as they were playing well. However, the team's performance began to take a dip as they lost four straight games, their record dropping to 48-50.

The first-base coach Rusty Kuntz walked into the clubhouse one day and that many of the players were engaged in Clash of Clans in the locker.

This led the coaching staff to think whether their slump was connected to this game, and if it was taking up too much of their time and energy.

Some veterans of the team called a players-only meeting that lasted for 45 minutes. In it, they talked about how much talent the team had and how players had to be held accountable for their flailing performances.

This resulted in several players cutting down on their time with their Ipad and instead, pooling their efforts more into their baseball. The team won five straight games after that, and 16 of 19 of their next games.

This allowed for the Royals to finish the season at 89-73 and even earn a spot in the American League Wild Card Game.

The team has not lost a game since September 27 and is on a 8-0 streak in the 2014 MLB postseason, right before their loss to the San Francisco Giants.

In a stunning turn of event, Dyson - the player who introduced Clash of Clans - was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 American League Championship series.
