"It would have been great if a woman is also allowed to marry two or three men all at the same time," said the netizen, who identified himself as Vera_1018.
Another netizen also posted his criticism of the occasion saying the two brides can be considered as concubines because the man already has a wife.
"When does marrying two wives become popular?" the netizen asked after the news about the marriage became an online hit.
Immediately after learning of the news, officials of Zhejiang Xiangshan County contacted the man through its Weibo account for an investigation.
The man, identified only as Mr. Shi, went to the town's local police station and wrote a letter of apology, saying it was she was just fulfilling the wish of his mother who wanted him to have two wives.
He insisted that the two women he supposed to have married were only acting it out and that the wedding was not for real.
Shi, who is resident of Guantou village of Xingiao town, also expressed his regrets in the letter that he sent to the police. The Civil Administration Department of Xiangshan County verified that Shi did not register for marriage in Xiangshan Civil Administration Department on Tuesday.
Local government said that Shi went to the local police station Wednesday afternoon. He said he understands the seriousness of the incident and regretted having performed such.
