Ray Rice has filed grievance charges against his former team, the National Football League's (NFL) Baltimore Ravens for terminating his contract.
The news first came from Pro Football Talk, with multiple sources confirming it to Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN).

According to the Pro Football Talk report, Rice cited the collective bargaining agreement, stating that he can only be subjected to only one punishment per infraction.
However, the star running back had received two punishments for his infraction.
Rice was first suspended last June for hitting his then-fiancee - now-wife Janay Palmer - in an elevator. His suspension lasted for two days.
In Rice's defense, Palmer was not grateful for the NFL's intervention and punishment. In fact, she was angry and told people not to meddle in affairs between couples.
However, after "new video evidence," had surfaced and was pointed out by Thirty Mile Zone (TMZ), Roger Goodell had no choice and Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL. He had appealed the suspension earlier with a hearing on November 5 or 6.
The reports state that if Rice's grievance and appeal are approved he could gain as much as US $3.52 million from the Ravens. This amount is what he would have earned had he been reinstated following his initial suspension.
Another possibility for his suspension being overturned is that Rice will be drafted by a new team.
If any team would like to get him, Rice could be returning to action for this current season. However, if the suspension and media backlash will have any effect on his career is still an aspect that will be made apparent soon enough.
