Under the circular, all pornographic mobile-phone texts, photos, videos and advertisements will be deleted while websites violating the anti-pornography laws will be shut down and their licenses revoked.

Also, operators of websites and telecom were urged to clean up their contents and links as soon as possible.

Chinese computer experts said cleaning the web is necessary in order to achieve a healthy cyberspace, and that it is crucial to its development.  Over the years, China has been very determined in stamping out online porn, even spending millions of dollars on rewards for tipsters.

China's efforts to put a stop to online and mobile pornography are slowly paying off.

Three years ago, the government shelled out more than 9.3 million Yuan or 1.47 million US dollars to 2,129 people for reporting Internet and mobile-phone pornography to authorities.

Then in 2012, several pornographic and illegal publications were shut down with its operators being hauled off to jail and meted penalties.

China made the biggest haul when it busted four transnational child porn websites, arresting more than 250 suspects last year.. Chinese officials said authorities seized 180,000 online publications on pornography

"Rampant pornography has disrupted social order and tainted the image of the country as a whole, casting a bad influence on the public, particularly minors," said Han Jun, deputy dean at Northwest University.

Meanwhile, a married couple had been arrested in Yunnan for spreading pornographic videos.

Reports said the couple was conducting live sexual acts, complete with featured settings like gardens, staircases and billiard rooms where the members watched for a fee.

The 23 year old woman was reportedly an ex-sex model for a porn site.

The couple reportedly sent out a total of 800 porn emails to the group's 970 members.  The couple sold pornographic videos and pictures ranging from 500 to 2,000 Yuan.
