Renee Zellweger surprised fans on Monday when she arrived at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards at the Four Seasons Hotel in California with her faced significantly in a brand new look.

Her photos eventually went viral online and the actress, whose career has been recently quiet, immediately became the talk of the town.

But the 45-year-old actress remained unfazed and immediately shrugged rumors that she underwent plastic surgery, calling them as "silly."

"It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth, which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door," the Oscar-winning star told People Tuesday.

She called the plastic surgery rumors as totally baseless and attributed her new look as the result of her healthier and happier lifestyle.

Gossip immediately circulated online that she underwent plastic surgery because she was totally unrecognizable when she attended the Beverly Hills event.

The actress eventually decided to say something about the issue because "it seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth, which doesn't exist, won't get off my porch until I answer the door."

"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," the actress said.

"People don't know me (as) healthy for a while. Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy," she continued.

The actress, who rose to fame as Tom Cruise's leading lading in Jerry Maguire (1996), admitted that she neglected her health for quite a while.

"My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy. For a long time, I wasn't doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself," she said.
