Brand, who starred in the film 'Forgetting Sarah Mashall' in 2008, is said to have attended several highly-cited protests for the past view days, including the demonstrations at the Occupy Wall Street in New York City.
The former husband of pop singer Katy Perry is also said to have attended a rally in London, marching with nurses who were demanding for higher pays, not only for them but also for laborers in the public sector.
According to media outlets, Brand has started to step up on his call for change, encouraging quite a large number of people to refrain from paying for their taxes and purposefully slack off on the payment of their mortgages.
In a recent interview that the 'Rock of Ages' star has had with a British media outlet, he stated that debts that ordinary people have incurred should be cancelled, including mortgages and credit cards.
He cited that the financial industry has trillions worth of dollars in debt. Brand says that if the debts would be cancelled, it wouldn't be a problem.
"Instead of cancelling debts of people with loads of money, cancel debt for your parents, you, the people you care about and love," says Brand on his interview.
The actor also urged people to abolish corporate power. He urged people to stop paying taxes together and organize movements that discourages personal debts.
"Don't pay your mortgage, don't pay your taxes," says Brand. "Not on your own, because you will go to prison. Organize. Watch this happen."
