South Korean band EXO member Oh Sehun, has recently joined Weibo in order to connect with Chinese fans, but got hate and insults instead.
Sehun, one of the lead dancers and rappers of EXO, has created a Weibo account last Tuesday, October 21.
According to media reports, the 20-year old singer usually updates his fans with photos through Instagram. However, since said social networking service has been temporarily blocked in China, Sehun decided to make a Weibo account in order to update the fans and remain connected to them.

Sehun has reportedly garnered more than 400,000 followers on Weibo, which is considered as the most popular social networking site in China. The singer-dancer's first post was a photo of himself along with a greeting that he addressed to the Chinese EXO fans.
However, days after he joined said social networking service, he was attacked by some Chinese fans, leaving hate comments and insults.
Speculations say that Sehun is merely getting affected by the hate that his fellow member Huang Zi Tao, more popularly known as Tao, gets from most of the Chinese fans. The reason behind the fans' aversion to the Chinese member is unspecified, however some are saying that it was the way Tao had been vocally standing up for his fellow EXO members whenever they get involved in issues since their debut in 2012.
On the other hand, it is also being speculated that Sehun was getting hate because he followed Tao on Weibo, but did not follow the other Chinese members particularly Lu Han, who has just recently filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment and left EXO.
Furthermore, some have cited the close friendship between Lu and Sehun in the past which seemed to have changed over time. These sources also say that Sehun might not have followed Lu on Weibo because he left EXO.
In response to the bashing, Sehun posted another message, writing, "What's going on? Please stop it. [Just] We are one!"
On the other hand, Tao has retaliated, posting a message addressed to the fans who bashed Sehun. In his Weibo post, he wrote, "Isn't it happy that Sehun is joining Weibo? If you like him, you may follow. If you don't, please don't slander, okay?"
He also posted another message saying that he does not care if people are going to hate and defame him for defending Sehun, but emphasized that he wouldn't just sit and watch while his fellow members are being attacked by some people.
