Swiss Indoors: Canadian Milos Raonic Escapes American Threat; Rafael Nadal Confronts Croatian Teenager

Canadian star Milos Raonic escaped a threat from American Donald Young while Croatian teenager Borna Coric is confronted by second seed Rafael Nadal at the quarterfinals of the Swiss Indoors in Basel on Thursday.
Both Raonic and Young started of sluggishly as they try to feel each other out but the Citi Open champion seized an opportunity to break the 25-year-old Atlanta native mid-way in the first set and eventually ended out on top 6-4.

Young went head-to-head with the fourth seed in the second set and forced Raonic to a tie-break where the left-handed American got the better of the Canadian.
In the third and deciding set, the theme was just about the same as both saved a break point each and went into overtime.
The Wimbledon semifinalist was unstoppable in the tie-break as he smashed a total of 12 services aces in the set alone to conquer the American 6-4 6(5)-7(7) 7(7)-6(2).
Raonic will now face seventh seeded David Goffin of Belgium in the quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old Raonic competing for a place at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London and is currently in 9th place behind Andy Murray who is just 45 points ahead of him.
Meanwhile, Croatian wild card entry Coric backed up his upset over sixth seeded Ernests Gulbis in the first round as he defeated Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan in two straight sets 6-4 6-4.
"I played very well in both matches," Coric said. "I'm very happy with my game. I wasn't getting nervous. It really feels good and it's going to help me with my ranking."
Coric, 17, will now confront Nadal in the quarters and if he wasn't nervous in his first two matches of the tournament, will he be as confident now that he faces his childhood idol?
"I think it's going to be a great match," Coric said. "He's an unbelievable tennis player. It's a privilege to play against him. I hope I can play as best as I can and we'll see what happens."
