In an interview with Bloomberg TV with Emily Chang, the film's screen writer confirmed that role is given to Bale, writes Hollywood Reporter.

"We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale," Sorkin said.

"He didn't have to audition. Well, there was a meeting."

Bale, who won the Academy Award for best actor for portraying Dicky Eklund in the biopic The Fighter (2010), was said to have grabbed the role over other possible contenders, including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Leonardo Dicaprio, according to The Verge reports.

The film is adapted from Walter Isaacson's 2011 biography, Steve Jobs. Shooting will commence in the next few months.

Danny Boyle is slated to direct the film after David Fincher decided to give up the project.

Sony decided to turn the best-selling bio into a film around 2011, after Jobs' passing.

Sorkin discussed in the Bloomberg interview that the film's script highlights many trademark fast-paced dialogue. He believes that Bale is the right man for the role because he could live up to the challenge.

"He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined," Sorkin said.

"There isn't a scene or a frame that he's not in. And there's a tremendous amount of language. So it's an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."

Scott Rudin, Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon will produce the film.

Sorkin's screen writing portfolio includes television shows like The West Wing and The Newsroom. In 2010, he also wrote the script for the Mark Zuckerberg biopic The Social Network.
