Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) legend and former champion BJ Penn made threats on social media against dietician and pioneer of health program "The Dolce Diet," Mike Dolce.

The animosity between these two stemmed from Penn's last fight, the capstone of the trilogy with Frankie Edgar, where Dolce served as the fitness and nutrition guru of the Hawaiian-based fighter.

Penn, who originally fought at lightweight (155 lbs.) asked for Dolce's help to get down to 145 lbs. with his revolutionary program that was seemingly working for most other fighters.

However, Penn lost his bout and ended up retiring. Afterwards, he took to the internet and shared how Dolce was less than helpful when it came to his nutrition, fitness, and diet advice.

"As far as Mike Dolce goes; I would never hire him again for anything," Penn said, adding that he paid Dolce US $22,000 for 21 days of supposed "work".

He cited how Dolce made him take four types of different diuretics so as to not sweat out a single pound.

While Dolce did get Penn to the target weight - with some difficulty - Penn said that he did not have the experience or knowledge to put water back into his body.

Dolce countered online with his side of the story. He said that Penn's camp only called him in a few weeks before the fight, describing Penn's weight loss needs as being in "crisis mode."

This led to a string of actions that both sides have varied versions of.

Things eventually got heated up and now Penn is on the verge of charging Dolce, threatening to knock him out on Twitter.

While Penn is retired from professional MMA, he may still be in for a fight the way things are going.
