Enrique Iglesias Ties Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs

Enrique Iglesias ties with Shakira for holding the record for most number of weeks at the no. 1 spot of Billboard's Hot Latin Songs. The singer's single, "Bailando," which also Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona is now on the chart's top spot for 25th week in a row.

The only other singer to hold the same feat is Shakira, whose single "La Tortura" reached No. 1 on June 4, 2005.

The chart was launched on Oct. 4, 1986

"Of all the songs I've written in Spanish, there's something about this song," Iglesias told Billboard.

"The more I listen to it, the more I seem to like it.

"There's something addictive about this song," he continued.

If "Bailando" remains no. 1 until next week, Iglesias breaks the tie with Shakira and eventually becomes the longest-leading Hot Latin Songs No. 1.

On the other hand, three songs take over atop Latin airplay charts. "Tus Besos" by Juan Luis Guerra 440 tops Latin Airplay (2-1). This is Guerra's seventh No. 1 and the first since "Cuando Me Enamoro," which featured him and sung by Iglesia, topped for 17 weeks beginning in June 2010. Guerra first landed in the top spot in February 1993 with "El Costo De La Vida."

Meanwhile, Banda los Recoditos made its third Regional Mexican Songs No. 1 with "Hasta Que Salga El Sol" (2-1). The act first landed the no. 1 spot with its debut entry, "Ando Bien Pedo" (12 weeks, 2010) and with "Mi Ultimo Deseo" (one week, 2013)
