Zoe Saldana has gotten a little bit emotional as she and her sisters planned a tribute to their mother Asalia Nazario.

The trio planned a surprise party for their mother as they honor her for a new and uplifting web series. The surprise was said to be filmed by the show "My Hero", produced by AOL Originals and the episode of the three sisters honoring their matriarch will premiere on Friday.

The show is said to be produced by Saldana herself and it will be focusing on celebrities and the people that have changed their lives and made into a better one.

In the teaser video that has been posted on Saldana's Twitter page on Thursday, she was seen with her sisters Mariel and Cisely as they expressed thoughtful and touching words towards their mother. They noted that their mom had to make a lot of difficult decisions for their family after a horrible tragedy.

Saldana said, "You are the ultimate rock star because you became my friend, because you showed us your humanity when we were too young to understand." She added that because of their mom, they were able to get what life is about and that they are grateful for that.

Their mom was then seen wiping her tears away with a handkerchief as her three daughter thanked her.

The tragedy that they were earlier talking about pertained to her father, Aridio Saldana, dying from a car accident when the star was just nine years old. The star was said to be born in New Jersey and her family lived in Queens, New York City. Her dad was from the Dominican Republic while her mom was from Puerto Rico.

Saldana once talked about her father in an interview with The Telegraph and she said that her dad was very possessive of her daughter and that he always had the best laugh. She remembered her dad laughing with an open mouth and their father teased that his daughters laughed that way.

As for the decisions that her mom had to think about, she noted that she and her sisters were sent to their grandparents' home located at the Dominican Republic as New York was not a place where kids should be raised during that time. She added that she has never met anyone with the vulnerability and the strength that their mom has.
