10 More Bodies Retrieved from Sunken S Korea Ferry

Emotions ran high on Sunday morning as some angry relatives clashed with police at the same time that coast guard divers pulled out 10 more bodies inside the sunken South Korean ferry, bringing the official number of fatalities to 46 people.

From a search and rescue operation, authorities turned their focus on search and retrieval as divers managed to get inside the hull of the ferry with hopes of retrieving bodies, or even survivors, as 256 passengers, mostly schoolchildren, remain missing.

While the operation was on going near Jeju Island, more than 100 people, mostly families and relatives of those who perished and are still missing, marched across a bridge on the island of Jindo to the mainland to protest to Seoul what they called was a slow operation.

Police, however, prevented the protesters from reaching the bridge, forcing the marchers to push and shoved the two lines of policemen.

"I want to see the body of my son," said one mother, who was comforted by police officers at the bridge following the clash.

The police imposed maximum tolerance as authorities understand the feelings of anger, sorrow, and grief that the families of those who are still missing are feeling right now.

Their search went on since Saturday night until Sunday as divers managed to create a passage towards the interior part of the ferry that sank in 86 feet of water. The divers were on their way to the passenger quarters and cabins where most of the still missing passengers are believed to be trapped.

Investors were also doing their part in determining what really caused South Korea's worst maritime disaster in 21 years, in terms of loss of life, although initial reports suggested that the ferry, on its way to Jeju Island, could have made a sharp turned and then listed, before capsizing.
