Honey Boo Boo's future is in possible danger after reports surfaced that the reality star's mother, June Shannon, aka "Mama June," has a child molester for a boyfriend. The future of Honey Boo Boo's hit reality series, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," is now reportedly in limbo.

TLC said it is still mulling over continuing the show because of the scandalous report.

The boyfriend, Mark McDaniel, who is in his early 50s, was recently released from prison after serving 10 years on a child molestation conviction, according to Deadline. He had been convicted May 20, 2004 of aggravated child molestation, and in March 2014 was officially registered as a sex offender.

TMZ reports that during the couple's previous relationship years earlier, McDaniel got jailed for molesting a child in Shannon's family. Now, Honey Boo Boo's mom has apparently decided to rekindle her relationship with this man despite this horrible fact.

"TLC is not currently in production on 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.' We are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series," said a TLC rep in a statement to Deadline.

Season 4 of the show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" ended in August. It showcases June and daughter Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, who is a former child beauty pageant contestant. The 9-year-old rose to fame after getting featured on TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras."

"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" was filmed primarily in Honey Boo Boo's hometown, McIntyre, Ga.

According to Deadline, this report of Honey Boo Boo's mom having a sex offender for a boyfriend is an embarrassing situation for TLC. Apparently, two days after the reports of McDaniel surfaced, the network's GM, Nancy Daniels, said the network had just bagged an inspirational series about miracles from  couple Roma Downey and Mark Burnett.

"TLC is always looking for remarkable, heart-warming, and eye-opening stories." Downey also said she and Burnett feels passionate about making a TV and film projects that "show people's lives in positive and uplifting ways," Daniels said.

The future of "Honey Boo Boo" may be in danger, but if it so happens that TLC indeed decide to cut the series, it would come as no surprise. "Honey Boo Boo's" ratings are reportedly waning. The show's Season 4 didn't reach 2 million viewers, which was common in the past. Season 2 had 3.21 million viewers during its final episode.

Mama June's relationship with the child molester came after she and "Sugar Bear" Thompson, Honey Boo Boo's father, announced their split last month. Though the former couple were never technically married, they have exchanged vows in May, in front of Boo Boo and her three sisters. The "Honey Boo Boo" show even documented the "commitment ceremony," reports Fox News.

Later after the separation, the couple released a statement explaining their uncertainty about the relationship's future. It seems that the same will go for the "Honey Boo Boo" show as well.

"Sugar Bear and I have decided to take some time apart to figure out some things in our relationship," they said in a statement. "We are taking things day by day, but regardless of what happens, the girls will always be our number one priority. We want to thank y'all for your support."

Authentic Entertainment LLC, the production company responsible for "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," have not returned FOX411's request for comment.
