Saying she did not like the idea of marrying an older man she did not love, a 14-year-old child bride allegedly poisoned her husband and three of his friends during a meal that celebrated their marriage, the Associated Press reported.
The child bride, identified as Wasila Umaru, mixed rat poison in the food during a gathering that celebrated her wedding with a man she said she did not love since the beginning of the marriage preparation.

One week after wedding, the 35-year-old groom, Umar Sani, invited dozens of friends to celebrate at a village north of Kano City, Nigeria, unsuspecting that her wife was planning a rather sinister act of killing him.
Wasila was asked to help prepare the meal for the gathering, but unknown to everyone she mixed rat poison into the food, resulting to the death of her husband and three of the groom's friends. Rat poisons usually contain cyanide, which is very fatal when consumed even at tiny amount.
Authorities said Wasila bought the Shinkafa Bera rat poison at a market in the village for less than a penny. Official report did not disclose what type of food was prepared and later mixed with rat poison.
The husband and two of his male friends died instantly after eating the toxic food while a woman friend died at a hospital a few hours later. Ten others who joined in the celebration and ate the poisonous food were also brought to the hospital for treatment but were later released.
A police spokesman said the 14-year-old bride confessed to the killings and justified her acts on grounds that she was forced to marry an older man that she did not want to spend a lifetime with.
The police said the suspect is cooperating in the investigation and could face charges for culpable homicide.
Child marriage is very common in Nigeria, especially in the country's southern part, with female kids as young as 10 years old are married to men several years older.
