"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" was canceled Friday following reports that the show's star Mama June Shannon is dating a convicted sex offender.
It didn't take long for the TLC network to yank the reality show centered on the antics of nine-year-old baby pageant princess Alana Thompson and her wacky relatives. Allegations arose earlier this fall that Alana's mother Shannon was dating Mark Anthony McDaniel, who served 10 years in prison following conviction of aggravated child molestation in 2004.

"Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority," TLC said in a statement. The network added that it had canceled the show and "ended all activities around the series effective immediately." That included re-runs for the series that attracted an average of 1.5 million viewers during its latest run this summer.
But the show had been sliding in the ratings. It's best ratings were achieved Sept. 11, 2013 when 3.2 million viewers watched the wedding of Shannon and Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson. Ratings have plummeted since then with August ratings dipping to an average of 1.5 million viewers for what once was TLC's highest rated show.
However, Shannon and Thompson have since separated and rumors have been swirling that Shannon was back with McDaniel - a claim she denies. She said that she isn't dating McDaniel and she would never put her kids in danger. She also said she had left McDaniel 10 years ago and "wouldn't go back."
Shannon's contention that she's not involved with McDaniel was supported by her daughter Pumpkin who told Radar Online her mama left McDaniel 10 years ago. McDaniel's son, Michael, agreed, saying photos that show Shannon and his dad together recently at a hotel room had been Photo shopped.
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" was an August 2012 spin-off of "Toddlers & Tiaras," a controversial, but popular, reality show revolving around the trials and tribulations of child pageant stars and their families. Honey Boo Boo was the breakout star of the "Tiaras" crowd.
The new show was based at Honey Boo Boo's Georgia home where Shannon, Honey Boo's Boo's dad, Thompson, and the wacky redneck family held sway. However, Shannon and Thompson separated in September just after the summer season ended.
