Danish star Caroline Wozniacki defeated Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in straight set 6-2 6-3 to claim top spot in Group White and has advanced to the semifinals of the WTA Finals in Singapore on Friday.

Both players exchanged break point in the first set but Wozniacki was on fire as she broke the Wuhan Open champion two more times to easily take the set.

The second set was more of the same as both Wozniacki and Kvitova exchanged breaks but the 24-year-old Wozniacki was able to break the Czech once more late in the set and then served out for the match that lasted an hour and 9 minutes.

Agnieszka Radwanska benefited the most from Wozniacki's win as she gets to advance to the semifinals along with the Dane.

In an earlier match, Radwanska faced off with Maria Sharapova but lost in a three set thriller 5-7 7(7)-6(4) 2-6.

The French Open champion would not be shut out in the event as she broke "Aga" once late in the first set but the Rogers Cup winner came back to match Sharapova's stride as they forced the second set into a tie-break where Radwanska eventually edged the Russian star.

In the third and deciding set, Sharapova was more determined as she broke the Pole twice to win the set and the match that lasted three hours and 9 minutes.

With Aga's loss, Wozniacki must win her match against Kvitova and since the Dane was her close friend, she promised to take her shopping if Wozniacki wins her match which she did.

"She told me that too," Wozniacki said. "I hope she's going to keep her promise. She owes me a handbag. I think that's what I'm going to go for."

Wozniacki tops Group White and will go up against another dear friend of hers, World No. 1 Serena Williams, who came in second of Group Red while Radwanska will face off Simona Halep in Saturday's knockout rounds.
