To corner a huge segment of China's young mothers, the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), one of the four major banks in the country, has started issuing "Pretty Mom" credit cards on Friday, state media reported today.
The credit card focuses on new Chinese mothers who have children aged six and below by offering these mothers discounts and freebies on major baby products and early education institutions, ABC said in a statement.

ABC is targeting a growing group of young mothers who are known for their passion for shopping and their say in the family's budget. A recent survey showed that 63 percent of female respondents in China are decision makers when it comes to the family's money matters.
It is not the first time that a bank has shown interest in the country's female consumers. China CITIC Bank and China Everbright Bank, two of the top banks in China, have already issued credit cards targeting women consumers, a report showed.
CITIC earlier said the credit card it offers to female clients is consistent with the trend of women becoming in charge of family wealth management.
ABC Business Director Liu Guiping said it expects young mothers in Chinese cities to upgrade their credit cards to the cards being offered by ABC. The new credit cards, he added, will focus on consumer experience.
The "Pretty Mom" credit card offers the usual credit card services but additional provides discounts and incentives for purchases related to what is described as female industries, including salons, cosmetics, clothing, health and accessories.
As more companies and industries hire female executives and employees, analysts said women will soon have a greater role to play in China's financial and consumption industries. In fact, analysts believe female-oriented services will be integrated in various financial products and could boost further financial innovation in China.
