UFC Fighter Anthony Johnson Returns to Court for a Restraining Order Hearing

Rising Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) light heavyweight contender had his meteoric rise to the top of the rankings stopped by a domestic violence charge. He is due in court back in Wednesday for a restraining order hearing.
Johnson's budding career was halted when a past relationship - and reported mother of his children - of his came forward and spoke about the fighter hitting her and knocking out her two front teeth. Afterwards, the UFC gave Johnson on an indefinite suspension.

The two parties involved were in court on October 1 where a 30-day stay of the order of protection was granted.
There were confusions regarding certain technicalities regarding the "domestic violence" aspect of the act since the two are not in a relationship and there has been no acknowledgement of paternity.
Johnson's legal team laid this out in a motion to dismiss late last September, which led the court to change the judge for appropriate handling of the situation.
The woman did provide several e-mails from 2012 that indicated how Johnson was apologizing to her about it all. However, Johnson refuted it, citing some technical inconsistencies pointing to its inauthenticity.
The UFC on the other hand is carrying out its own investigation on the matter. UFC President Dana White had suggested that Johnson might never fight in the organization again, despite the fact that these allegations were false.
This is primarily because their earlier investigations revealed a 2009 misdemeanor of Johnson wherein he kicked his girlfriend down the stairs and stopped her from calling 911.
White said that if there is anything the UFC does not tolerate, it is domestic abuse. He expressed a bit of regret with it as Johnson seemed to be one win away from fighting for the title.
We'll just have to wait and see what becomes of Anthony Johnson's career.
