Surrogate Mother Falls in Love with Child's Father

A husband who persuaded his wife to become the surrogate mother of another man's child ended up losing his wife's affections to the other man, Husheng Online reported on Saturday.
The surrogacy mess-up stemmed from the desire of a couple, Mr. Lu and Ms. Li of Yongzhou, Hunan province, to purchase an apartment in Changsha.

The couple reportedly had a hard time raising money for down payment on their dream home because of their low combined wages.
Lu was said to have found hope when a relative tipped him off on the potential to earn 100,000 yuan if his wife's physical condition was good, but did not clearly explain how.
"The relative did not speak very clearly," Lu said, "he just asked whether my wife is pregnant; whether my wife's physical condition is ok; whether my wife has done body check' etc."
"I felt weird, but he explained later that there was a way to earn money. I could receive 100,000 Yuan as return," said Lu.
According to the report, Lu was lured by the big amount involved, even if his wife was upset over the surrogacy concept.
"She emphasized that pregnancy could not be a way to earn money even we lacked of money," Lu recalled.
The deal nevertheless came through, the down payment was made, and the couple met with client Deng, owner of a Real Estate company in Shangsha.
To the couple's surprise, however, Deng reportedly asked them to divorce in order to avail of the paid surrogacy, this time raising the amount to 150,000 yuan.
"Deal, 150,000 Yuan," Li answered. "Everything will be fine, one year later after I give birth," Li comforted Lu.
The couple divorced and Li soon got pregnant with Deng's child after a successful intra-uterine implantation. She lived in Changsha during her pregnancy while Lu worked in Guangzhou.
After the birth of the child, Lu was puzzled that he could not contact Li's cell phone anymore, prompting him to phone Deng.
In yet another surprise twist, Deng admitted that Li had fallen in love with him because of the way he cared for her during the pregnancy, but said he could not leave his own wife.
"I was responsible for taking care of her as she surrogates for us, but I thanked her love and I love my wife. We would love to pay her if she gives the baby back," Deng said.
Lu admitted that the surrogacy arrangement was a mistake from the start and hoped that Li would come back and marry him again.
A lawyer said surrogacy is illegal in China but deemed that Mr. and Mrs. Deng would be the baby's legitimate parents once Li receives the payment.
It is not yet known, however, where Li had gone and whether or not she intends to give up her baby to the Deng couple for the rest of the promised surrogacy payment.
