AT&T to Lock Apple SIM Cards for iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3

There's been news about an Apple SIM compatible with any wireless mobile carrier but AT&T has other ideas for the new iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3.
The idea behind Apple's SIM is that users are free to use the services of any of the major U.S. wireless carriers (T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T and EE) in the United Kingdom.

AT&T, however, doesn't seem to like the idea.
AT&T's message warning says: "Once activation is complete, this Apple SIM can only be used with AT&T. You will need a new Apple SIM if you change carriers in the future."
On Friday, website Macrumors reported AT&T isn't supporting Apple's interchangeability and will lock the SIM included with iPad Air 2 and Retina iPad mini 3 under their plans.
It's the only carrier that locks the Apple SIM to their network.
According to Apple's support document, when an Apple SIM becomes locked to a specific network like AT&T, purchasing a new Apple SIM from an Apple Retail store will allow an iPad to be usable with other carrier programs.
Both Sprint and T-Mobile will not lock the Apple SIM once consumers purchase iPads from them.
AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said they'll only lock the SIM card and not the actual device. Subscribers can switch carriers as long as they purchase a new Apple SIM for US$10.
