This is Peng and Hsieh's first encounter with the Russian-Australian pair but Peng won over them, along with new partner Andrea Hlavackova in the semifinals at the recent China Open where they were champions.
The French Open title holders started out quick in the first set as Peng and Hsieh covered the court like true champions and broke the Kuryavtseva-Rodionova tandem twice to easily take the first set.
The Chinese mainland-Chinese Taipei duo relaxed a bit in the second set as both teams exchanged serves to even the score at 4-all but Peng and Hsieh pulled themselves together to break Kuryavtseva and Rodionova to finally end the set and the match 6-1 6-4 that lasted an hour and five minutes.
Peng and Hsieh will now appear in their last match together in the finals against Cara Black and Sania Mirza who had an epic battle against Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in their semis matchup.
Both teams started out aggressive in the first set as they exchanged a couple of break points before Peschke and Srebotnik managed to break the Zimbabwe-India tandem to take the set.
The second set is more of the same as both teams exchanged break points but it was the Czech-Slovenian duo that had a late break to even the match at one apiece.
It was a race to 10 games in the third and deciding set where both teams held on to their serves at the very end as Black and Mirza edged out Peschke and Srebotnik to book themselves in the finals 4-6 7-5 11-9.
"It's crazy, we're just trying to stay in the moment, really," Mirza said. "With these super tie-breaks that's what happens. I mean, everyone's tight, everyone wants to win so badly.
Incidentally, Mirza has announced that Black and her are parting ways after the tournament and will join Hsieh next season.
"That's why I chose such a good partner - for moments like these," Black said. "It's our last tournament together and we're just coming out here to try and enjoy it and celebrate."
