'Ouija' Summons Box Office Victory Over Keanu Reeves

After shocking snapchat users with its trailer, "Ouija" has now summoned the box office seeing as the movie has achieved victory over Keanu Reeves, whose movie "John Wick" made $14.2 million while "Ouija" made a whopping $20 million.
The movie is based on a game created by Hasbro that is used to communicate with the spirit world. Ouija succeeded where other movies based on board games have failed in the past, among them 1985's "Clue" and the 2012 flop "Battleship".

The release also performed the task of beating out "John Wick" with a relatively unknown cast and a low production budget of only $5 million, which was funded by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Jason Blums in conjunction with Hasbro.
Oujia tells the tale of a group of friends who must confront their biggest fears after they summon and awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board.
Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst for Rentrak, says the opening of the film was perfect timing as it is almost Halloween and everyone is in for a scare. Another reason that the movie may have pulled in viewers lies in its title "Ouija", which adds a sort of mystique to the film as there is a stigma that comes with the board game.
Unfortunately, even if "Ouija" was a box office hit, it was not a hit with the critics. The film scored a low 38 out of 100 on review compilation Metacritic.com. It also did not fare well with people who went out to see the film, who mostly gave it a C rating on cinema score.
