A quarantined nurse blasted the government's response to Ebola, saying that putting someone in quarantine, without proper planning and forethought "is just preposterous."

In an interview with CNN, Kaci Hickox, a New Jersey nurse who was put in mandatory quarantine, said that politicians' response to Ebola was a "knee-jerk reaction."

According to Hickox, who is an epidemiologist who helped care for Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, she did not exhibit any symptoms of the disease and has twice tested negative for the virus.

She was sent to Newark's University Hospital for a 21-day quarantine.

In CNN's "State of the Union", Hickox said that it was an "extreme measure," which made her feel like her basic human rights were violated.

According to her, her present state was strong, physically, but she was "emotionally exhausted," adding that the physical and emotional strain that she was forced to face was completely unacceptable.

The nurse also slammed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for his statement saying that she was "obviously ill."

During a separate interview with CNN, Hickox said that for a respected and trusted politician to make a "categorically incorrect" statement, was not only appalling but also unacceptable.

In addition, she criticized mandatory quarantine, saying that it is not a "sound public health move."

Hickox met with her lawyers on Sunday, wherein they talked for over 75 minutes, while she was behind a piece of clear plastic inside a tent.

In a media conference, her lawyer, Steven Hyman, said his client was fine and wasn't infected with the virus.

Hyman added that Hickox deserved to be treated with dignity and respect, and not be forced into isolation.

Meanwhile, civil liberties lawyer, Norman Siegel, who is also representing Hickox, said his client is now planning to sue and contest her quarantine in court.

According to Siegel, the mandatory quarantine imposed on Hickox raises constitutional as well as civil rights issues, adding that Gov. Christies policy, when applied to his client, was "broad and unconstitutional."
