Fans Shocked At Jake Gyllenhaal Surprise Appearance on ‘Nightcrawler’ Screenings

"Nightcrawler" fans in Boston and Philadelphia were left shocked after Jake Gyllenhaal made a surprise appearance Saturday during the film's screening.

Jake Gyllenhaal's surprise appearance in Massachusetts occurred at the AMC Loews Boston Common Saturday afternoon. College kids initially expected an appearance from writer-director, Dan Gilroy. Gilroy didn't make it in time for his appearance, but what the students experienced was the next best thing.

"Nightcrawler" star and producer Jake Gyllenhaal was welcomed passionately the shocked crowd of students when he introduced the film to them.

Jake Gyllenhaal was afterwards allowed for the excited fans to take selfies with him. When the film began and the crowd has finally settled, the famous actor proceeded next door to the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common. He was interviewed by the Boston Glove about his Boston ties.

According to Jake Gyllenhaal, who is still a regular on the island, he is a frequent visitor in the city mainly because he grew up used to visiting the Cape and Martha's Vineyard.

"My boys - my four closest childhood friends - are all from Boston," said Jake Gyllenhaal.

Later on, he departed for Philadelphia and Washington to introduce "Nightcrawler" there, reports the Boston Globe.

In the Philadelphia screening of "Nightcrawler", fans reception was also more than enthusiastic. This time around, Jake Gyllenhaal was with Dan Gilroy, the director.

Before credits rolled in, Gilroy introduced the audience to a chilling intro. He was ushered into the auditorium through a back door

"I've lived in Los Angeles for quite some time, and I find it one of the most unique, fascinating places I've ever been," he began. "Los Angeles has a wild, untamed energy. You can feel the ocean, you can see the mountains at night, and you can encounter an array of wildlife. And some night, you might be driving through Los Angeles and wind up in the Hollywood Hills. And your car may be going around a turn, and your headlights might actually sweep something, and you'll look, and you might see a figure running along the road," Gilroy continued.

"And that figure very well may be somebody I'd like to introduce tonight... who is one of the most exciting, committed, talented actors alive today," he finally concluded to introduce Jake Gyllenhaal.

Unsurprisingly, the crowd was in total excitement and chaos as Gyllenhaal walked into the theater.

The thriller, which opens in the US Oct. 31, stars Gyllenhaal as Louis Bloom, a freelance crime journalist in Los Angeles who makes a living out of filming gruesome crime and accident footage by selling them to news stations.

Jake Gyllenhaal would later find himself teaming up with veteran news director (Rene Russo), forcing him to find more risky ways and more dangerous lengths to get a gruesome scoop.

Last summer, Brad Pitt also made a surprise visit to Philadelphia for the promotion of "World War Z", according to Comcast. However, unlike Brad, who stayed for only 60 seconds, Jake Gyllenhaal spent nearly 10 minutes meeting and greeting fans, taking photos and event chatting with them at the very back row of the theatre.
