(Photo : Reuters) Ashraf Ghani, sworn in as Afghanistan's president in September, starts a three-day visit to China on October 28.
Afghanistan's new president is scheduled to visit China this week, in a move to earn the Asian country's support in addressing not only economic issues, but also strategic foreign policy issues as well.
Ashraf Ghani is expected to start his three-day official visit to China on October 28, during which he will meet with Chinese president Xi Jinping, in a bid to secure Beijing's help in securing Afghanistan's economic future and in building lasting peace in the battle-ridden nation.

In addition, officials said that Ghani will also meet with other top leaders of China to sign agreements on bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Afghanistan, which has reportedly US$1 trillion worth of mineral resources, has listed China, already with several copper and oil mining businesses in the country, as one of its top investors.
In turn, China's Foreign Ministry has vowed that Beijing will continue supporting Afghanistan to ensure that it will be rebuilt peacefully after remaining U.S. troops and other allied forces pull out by the end of the year.
The visit to China is one way of addressing Afghanistan's rapid economic decline, which began in 2012 when the bulk of U.S. troops were withdrawn from the country.
Ghani, along with several Afghan businessmen, will attend a summit in Beijing in hopes of attracting Chinese investors who will potentially develop their country's mining industry, in order to propel the economy after 30 years of dealing with war, corruption and insurgency.
According to officials, Ghani is also scheduled to attend a multilateral Istanbul Ministerial Process where political and economic issues will be discussed and the problems of regional security will be addressed.
The Aghan president traveled to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, in fulfillment of an election promise to go on a pilgrimage.
