Yunnan province is worth a visit, besides the capital Kunming, Dali and Lijiangtravel series is a good choice as well. 

These two cities both have a old town where you could wander and see the historical buildings and vivid living area of the ancient minority people there.  

Lijiang also has Jade dragon snow mountain which is absolutely scenic and Tiger Leaping Gorge which is the deepest gorge in China. It's said that the views from the high trail are more than worth the hike.

In Dali you can visit the landmark of Dali the Three Pagodas. In some villages you can see people in ethnic minority garb. It has an immensely laid back vibe.
