Rumors about the couple's break up surfaced last Sunday after Ferrell, who won the season 18 Bachelor, unfollowed Galavis on Twitter and Facebook. She then posted a puzzling quote on her Instagram page:
"Isn't it pathetic how we waste so much time on certain people and in the end they prove that they weren't even worth a second of it," 27-year-old Ferrell shared on her account, which was captioned: "Nope not one single second."
Another Us source said that their separation was not mutual and that Ferrell broke up with her beau.
33-year-old Galavis, meanwhile, unfollowed then followed then unfollowed Ferrell many times over from Sunday evening through Monday morning. The chunky former Bachelor star then posted a cryptic message on his Twitter page.
The couple's relation was not without hardship. Ferrell was the big winner in the former soccer player's much-talked about season, aired on ABC in early 2014.
During the After the Final Rose special in March, Galavis was severely criticized for not professing his love to Ferrell. He was only seen telling the pediatric nurse, "I like you," after Ferrell told him that she loved him.
The couple later asked the help of Dr. Jenn Berman on VH1's Couples Therapy. It was however, apparent, that Galavis was still finding it really hard to utter "I love you" to his girlfriend.
On the show's Oct. 8 episode, Ferrell cried and confessed to the professional counselor: "I feel like why give someone 100 percent, if they're not giving you 100 percent?"
"She wants to hear I love you. It's a word issue," Galavis responded.
"If I say it, I mean it," He continued.
As early as March, it seems that their relationship is not meant to last, after Ferrell quipped that he was taking things one step at a time.
"I just feel like, time will tell," she said Chris Harrison on the special.
"This is a real relationship to us."
