Seo Taiji, the K-pop legend who ruled Korea's music scene in the 90s, is making a big comeback after a five-year absence. The singing icon hopes to capture the youth and rekindle his presence among the 30- to 40-year-olds with his ninth solo album, "Quiet Night."

The singing sensation, who started out with the boy group Seotaiji and the Boys in the '90s, is hailed as one of Korea's esteemed musical figure, thanks to his popular albums that featured experimental rock- and metal-inspired albums.

The album is the product of the singer's collaboration with IU on vocals that showcased Seo's new sonic muse. The track serves as an accessible, dreamy first taste to the LP that feels like a deep exploration into the world of old-school synthesizer sounds, reports Billboard.

The album's first track, "Into," is a blend of jingle bells with glossy synths which proceeds to Seo 's solo version of "Sogyeokdong."

The album's second track, "Christmalo.Win," leaves listeners feeling like listening at a track specifically tailored for a Tim Burton film. Billboard noted that the single must have had its inspiration from from Burton's 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas.

With the K-pop market saturated with singers and performers whose popularities are as good as their latest performances, Seo Taiji has established himself as one of Korea's most enduring names in music, with a style aimed at luring the younger generations of listeners while still lulling older generations to listen to his songs, giving the latter the opportunity to go back in time "when maybe they too were inundated and in love with pop music," Billboard noted.
