World No. 1 Novak Djokovic recorded his very first win as a father against Philipp Kohlschrieber 6-3 6-4 in the second round of the PNB Paribas Masters in Paris on Tuesday.
A week after Djokovic's wife, Jelena, gave birth to their first born child named Stefan, the 27-year-old Serb came back to court and disposed Germany's Kohlschrieber in two straight sets at the indoor hard courts of Palais Ominsports de Paris-Bercy.

The defending champion broke as he broke Kohlschrieber once in the first and second set to advance to the next round in a match that lasted an hour and 24 minutes.
"It feels great! It's different, obviously," Djokovic said. "I'm very proud to be a father and I'm very proud of my wife for handling the birth in a great way. She's back home recovering now, with our little boy. This was my first match as a father and it can only inspire me to play my best tennis."
The Wimbledon champion last saw action at the Shanghai Rolex Masters in China where he lost to archrival Roger Federer in the semifinals early this October.
The 17-time Grand Slam champion is in pursuit of Djokovic's top spot in the ATP rankings and has an opportunity to dethrone the two-time tournament winner if the proud father exits early in the event and Federer advances to the finals.
"It's not the first time that I've been in this particular situation," Djokovic said. "I've been fighting for No. 1 the past couple of years with Nadal and Federer. I know what I need to do and I'll try to keep things simple. Just focus my attention on my own matches."
Next up for the reigning champ is the winner of the matchup between 13th seeded John Isner of the United States and Frenchman Gael Monfils.
Federer will play his opening match against Jeremy Chardy of France on Wednesday who won his first round match against fellow compatriot and qualifier Kenny de Schepper in a heart-pounding two set matchup 7(7)-6(5) 7(7)-6(4).
