Frequent sex can lower the risk of prostate cancer, according to a new study released Tuesday.
It's not the kind of frequent sex you're thinking of, however.
According to the team of researchers from Universite de Montreal and Institut Armand-Frappier (INRS), men should have sex with more than 20 women during the course of their lifetimes. Men that do this are 28 percent less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 19 percent less likely to develop the most aggressive form of prostate cancer.

Marie-Elise Parent, the lead researcher of the new study, said this is only a "highly speculative" hypotheses at this moment.
"A new partner over time keeps one active over the years," Parent said. "So the presumption is that men with several partners were exposed to more ejaculations. That's one explanation for our findings."
Furthermore, Parent clarified that men should not sleep with many women all at the same time.
The 3,208 men that took part in the study were asked questions by the Montreal study PROTEUS (Prostate Cancer & Environment Study) about their lifestyles, work experience and sex lives.
Of the total number of participants, 1,590 had prostate cancer between September 2005 and August 2009 while the rest served as the control group.
On the other hand, men who had never experienced sex were almost twice as likely to get prostate cancer compared to those who did.
It's a different story for men who slept with men. The team found out that men who slept with more than 20 male partners will likely to double the risk of getting prostate cancer compared to those who didn't sleep with a man. These males are five times more likely to develop a non-aggressive cancer.
The new study published in the journal, Cancer Epidemiology, is the first of its kind that tried to connect the number of sexual partners with the risk of developing cancer.
