Sheriff's Deputy Tai Chan of New Mexico reportedly killed his fellow deputy, Jeremy Martin, while at a Las Cruces hotel on Monday after they had a fight while under the influence of alcohol. The incident might cause Chan to be charged with murder.
According to the Las Cruces police, Chan is now being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center as he shot Martin while they were having a drunken argument.

The two deputies just got back from Stafford, Arizona after they transferred a prisoner. They then decided to grab a drink at the Street Pub in Dublin on Monday. The two deputies from Santa Fe, New Mexico reportedly began arguing at the pub, in which the disagreement escalated at the hotel where the two were staying.
According to Santa Fe Sheriff Robert Garcia, the incident happened a little after midnight. Martin tried to save himself as he fled the scene and went to the elevator, but was shot at the back and arms after Chan allegedly fired multiple rounds.
Garcia noted that they did not expect such to happen even if the two deputies did not normally work together. Martin has been a deputy for two and a half years while Chan has been in the position for three years now.
Twenty-nine-year-old Martin was then rushed to the Mountain View Regional Medical Center, but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. He is reportedly married and has three young children, ages 11, 9, and 4.
His family was informed on Tuesday about the unfortunate incident. Martin's family is grieving privately and is said to still be in the process of accepting the incident.
According to Las Cruces Police spokesman Dan Trujillo, 27-year-old Chan was taken by the officials who found him in a stairwell near the roof of the hotel. However, officials have not yet released information as to what charges Chan will be officially facing.
Garcia pressed during a press conference that both deputies were hardworking and that in his 34 years of being in service, he never thought about receiving such news, taking note that both men were from his own agency.
The investigation is still ongoing and the cause of the drunken argument between the two is yet to be disclosed to the public.
