Moviegoers and fans of actor Robin Williams might never see his film as it is rumored that the studio is having a hard time securing financial backing for the release of Boulevard, which should have been released already months ago.

Sixty-three-year-old Williams, who passed away August 11 after committing suicide, made his last starring role as the homosexual who was having a hard time to accept his sexuality only to fall in love with a male prostitute.

The film, helmed by Dito Montiel, has scored positive reviews during its premier at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. The film, however, went into oblivion after William's passing and is nowhere near to being released.

It was revealed that producers failed to grab a mainstream backer for a wide release, thus, it is feared that the movie will never be shown in cinemas.

A source for London Mirror can reveal: "It's really sad but it is looking impossible that Boulevard will ever see the light of day now. It has proved to be a struggle for it to find the support it needs to be released.

The cast have tried, as have the crew. But for many reasons it is looking very unlikely. There is one suggestion it isn't up to scratch and is failing on merit to find anyone to distribute it."

In this telling drama, Robin plays Nolan Mack married to Kathy Bates's character, Joy. The actor, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Good Will Hunting actor told earlier reports that this was a challenging role: "Boulevard is a beautiful, sad movie about a guy who falls in love with a gay prostitute, basically comes out. He's married, and he has to come out to his wife. It was powerful to do."
