Taylor Swifts Album Predicted to Sell One Million Copies But Won't Surpass Red Record

Taylor Swift's luck just keeps on getting better and better. The singer is slated to become the first performer to earn three consecutive one million sales for debut week.

Industry insiders are now forecasting that her latest album, 1989, would surpass the one million mark for its first week. That would make 1989, coincidentally, the 19th album to sell a million in a single week since Nielsen SoundScan began to track album sales in 1981.

And there's a bonus... Billboard reports that 1989 is also set to become the first million-selling album of 2014 for an opening week by a solo performer.

1989 is Swift's fifth studio album, released through Big Machine Records on Oct. 27.

Swift's two consecutive million sales include 2010's Speak Now (which sold 1.05 million) and 2012's Red (1.21 million).

Two weeks before 1989's release, forecasters predicted that the album would make 750,000, impressive enough but still far from the one million sale. Then, the prospect was upped to 800,000. By mid-day Oct. 27, the album's release day, prospects rose to 900,000.

After its first day in the market, forecasters were bold with their projection that the sales would reach the one-million threshold. 1989's official first-week sales, computed by SoundScan, will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

If 1989 sells one million in its first week, this will be 2014's second-biggest selling album after just one week on sale. Frozen soundtrack (3.2 million) and Beyonce's self-titled album (787,000) are the two highest-selling albums for 2014.

1989 is already reported scoring well in the iTunes Store and Target, with the latter carrying an exclusive version of the album with bonus tracks.

Swift has been working hard to promote her album. She's already made an appearance in Ellen DeGeneres Show, ABC's Good Morning America and NBC's The Voice, where she was a guest coach. She also been to iHeartRadio's multi-platform show "Taylor Swift's 1989 Secret Session with iHeartRadio."
