Canadian recording artist Alanis Morissette has recently upset some residents in Ottawa after she bailed out of a major charity event, making rock legend Burton Cummings fill in for her instead.
According to media reports, Morisette suddenly pulled out of a supposed performance at a charity event due to illness. However, after her management announced that she was sick, she suddenly posted a photo of herself at a beach in LA on her Twitter account, upsetting the residents in Ottawa.

In her defense, a spokesman released an official statement, saying that the 'Ironic' singer is really sick and couldn't make the trip to Ottawa. Furthermore, the spokesperson claimed that the photo she has uploaded on Twitter was taken last October 10 at a private residence in Los Angeles.
Morisette was supposed to make an appearance for a fund raising drive organized by Fertile Futures which is a group that provides info about treatment for cancer survivors in order for them to be able to bear children. Tickets to said cause is said to have been US$400 each.
The singer has already been booked to play as the marquee performer for the event, but the organizers were told that Morissette couldn't make it on the eve of the fund raiser.
The 40-year old singer has then received criticism especially because she has posted a photo of herself on Twitter and Instagram at the eve of the event.
Burton Cummings has then come to fill in for Morissette and has been successful with charming the audience. He played songs by Guess Who as well as his solo hits, singing while he played the keyboard.
Cummings has also offered his salutations to the 300 servicemen and women who were at the event, even taking photos with his fans after the performance.
The event, called Hope Live, was launched by Heidi Bonneli, who is the executive of Rogers Communications and is a cancer survivor herself.
