US Tornados Threaten Millions

Millions of Americans are on high alert Tuesday as the devastating storm system that has triggered 50 tornado reports in 24 hours showed no signs of waning, with authorities fearing more destructive tornadoes could be formed today.

At least 28 people have already been confirmed dead as the storm front ripped through Arkansas, Oklahoma and Iowa over the weekend, and furthermore slammed into parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee on Monday, the Associated Press reported.

Alert warnings have already been issued to areas that lay on the path of the storm system on Tuesday. Authorities are now closely monitoring various areas of the Midwest and South, including northern Georgia through parts of Alabama and Florida.

Arkansas has, so far, reported the worst damage when a half-mile-tornado killed 15 people and destroyed houses in the suburbs of Little Rock on Sunday

At least 75 million lives are at risk as the storm system is expected to create tornadoes, possibly more destructive than the previous ones, on Tuesday.

Millions of those living in the tornado-hit areas lacked power because utility poles were down and power lines were snapped.

Those who managed to save their phone's batteries turned to Twitter to ask for prayers, to share their experiences, to warn others of the danger that these tornados bring.

"Please pray for my brother in Tuscaloosa. We still have not heard from him," said one Twitter user. "Mass damage in Montgomery. Please pray for us," said another user.
