Alleged cop killer Eric Matthew Frein has been finally taken into custody, which put an end to the almost seven weeks of being on the run from authorities, according to an announcement from Connie Devens, the spokesperson from Pennsylvania State Police, on Thursday.
Frein was said to be arrested at an uninhibited airport located between Tannersville and Henryville, as declared by a local government official who provided information to the press. He was discovered in the area while the U.S. Marshal's Service special operations team had been in the process of clearing the spot. Authorities were said to have taken him into custody without any defiance on his part.

According to an unnamed source who was said to be knowledgeable of the events leading up to the arrest, as well as to the actual capture itself, Frein was found equipped with two guns. One firearm was a pistol while the other was a rifle.
The source also disclosed that the success of the manhunt had been a result of cooperation among agencies. In addition, eyewitness accounts and intelligence information collected throughout the search considerably helped the operation.
Another unnamed law enforcement officer shared with CNN that authorities found knives stashed in the purported hiding place of Frein. The area is currently being searched for additional weapons the suspect possibly concealed.
The manhunt for the 31-year-old alleged cop killer stemmed from the ambush shooting on Sept. 12, which caused the death of Cpl. Bryon Dickson. The incident, which occurred outside the barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police in Blooming Grove, also injured Trooper Alex T. Douglass.
Prior to his arrest, authorities have gathered information aiming to create an accurate profile of the alleged cop killer.
For instance, a used pack of Serbian cigarettes had been found by the police, which served to possibly confirm Frein's claim of going to battles with the Serbians in Africa. The FBI also discovered that the suspected cop killer studied Serbian and Russian languages. In addition, the agency identified Frein as one of the ten most wanted outlaws.
Authorities also found two pipe bombs, which were both fully functional. Soiled adult diapers were also discovered, which police suspected to have been used by Frein during times when he needed to stay still for a long period.
Although no clear motive has been established by the authorities, Frein has been known to openly share his hatred of law enforcement. In addition, an analysis of the contents of the alleged cop killer's computer hard drive revealed that he intended to go through with such attack years ago.
The search for Frein had been joined by approximately 1,000 officers, in which some of them even came from other states. Millions of dollars had been said to be spent in the manhunt for the self-proclaimed survivalist.
