Russell Westbrook of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Oklahoma City Thunder, fractured his right hand and did not return to their game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Thunder lost the game, 93-90.

In the second quarter, Westbrook was going for a rebound. Jumping in the air, he successfully tipped the ball away from their opponent's teams.

However, upon observing the instant replay, it seems that his hand was injured when it brushed up against his teammate Kendrick Perkins' elbow.

When he landed, he was visibly stunned and attending to his left hand. He tried to make a fist. He headed to the locker room in a hurry and even had some harsh words for a fan who was saying things from the stand.

He returned to the Thunder in the third quarter with a bag of ice wrapped around his hand, but left for the locker room again at the end of the period.

From there, the Clippers were able to outplay their opponents who had only a choice number of players to use.

With Westbrook out, he joins his already injured teammates such as: Kevin Durant, Reggie Jackson, and Jeremy Lamb. This leaves the Thunder with only eight available players left.

When Head Coach Scott Brooks was asked regarding the possibility of Durant and Westbrook being out together for a long period of time, he said the he didn't want to think about it just yet.

The Thunder are now planning on applying for the NBA's hardship exception, which allows them to add an additional player to their roster if four or more players are out due to injury for a minimum of two weeks.

Westbrook will be getting word of his diagnosis soon. If he is out, the team will be able to apply for the exception.

The players must miss a minimum of three games before the Thunder can file for the exception.
