Talking with press from the New York Times, Witherspoon admitted, "I've sat through millions of development meetings where people are like: 'We don't want Reese to say profanities. We don't want her to have sex. We don't want her to take drugs."

She said that she was okay with being seen that way up until three years ago when she was suddenly hit with the realization that she was being boxed into characters that were simply just nice. She felt that she was more complex than that and, that her personality had more aspects to it than just being "likeable".

"Somehow, I have this reductive experience where I'm put into this tiny little box," she said, adding, "Likeable. Can we scrub the likeable box?''

The actress believes that the character she takes on in her new film "Wild" is for her, the most likeable of all the characters she has portrayed.

Although the role was physically and emotionally demanding, Witherspoon shared that her character in "Wild" is honest and real.

''It's the hardest I've ever done for many different reasons," she admitted, confessing that of all the scenes in the movie, the hardest for her to do were the sex scenes. "I've never had to do anything like that in my entire life. I had to do all the parts of the movie, the parts that made me feel uncomfortable too, because it is about emotional honesty," she explained.
