Facebook Unveils Anonymous Login Feature

If you are one of those millions of Facebook users who are uncomfortable signing into applications because you are scared your personal information will be shared, Marck Zuckerberg is offering a solution.

The Facebook CEO said users now have the option to unanimously login to apps or Facebook-powered websites without the risk of sharing their personal data, an issue that has been creating concern among the millions of Facebook users.

Facebook unveiled the anonymous login feature on Wednesday and said the apps will now be forbidden from collecting users' personal information, if the user avails of the unanimous login.

Websites that allow visitors to log-in using their Facebook account will also be barred from collecting personal information if the user chooses the unanimous login feature.

During Facebook's annual F8 developers conference in San Francisco, California, Zuckerberg said the anonymous login feature will give users more power and more control over their personal information online.

Zuckerberg said the new feature will make people trust more apps, knowing that their personal information will no longer be shared.

However, Facebook said the new feature is still in beta mode and is available only to a limited set of applications, including Flipboard. But the social network said the anonymous login feature will soon be available more broadly.

Aside from the anonymous login feature, Facebook also plans to unveil a line-by-line privacy control that will allow users to choose what information will be seen by third party applications and websites.

Through the said feature, users can, for instance, share their birthday but can choose to keep their friends' list private.

"We want to put control and power back in people's hands," Zuckerberg said, adding that more features will be unveiled in the coming months.
