Gianna Jun Contributes 600,000 Yuan To Ferry Disaster Victims

Popular Korean actress, Jun Ji-hyun, known popularly as Gianna Jun, made a 600,000 Yuan contribution for the Sewol ferry tragedy victims.
The said contribution, which is equivalent to 100 million won, had been made using the actress' real name "Wang Ji-hyun." She coursed it through the Korean Red Cross.

Based on the press release of her agency, Gianna Jun was deeply devastated after hearing the news about the accident. She immediately thought about the pain that the victims and their families had been through.
Gianna Jun reportedly said that she was sharing the sadness and pain of the victims, and wishes that they would never give up.
The ferry accident happened on April 15, 2014, as the Sewol ferry that carried 476 passengers capsized off of the Gwanmaedo Island. Most of the passengers on board were secondary school students from Danwon High School at Ansan City.
A lot of the passengers had been rescued by fishing boats as well as other commercial vessels which happened to arrive at the scene before the SoKor coast guard and the ships of ROK Navy arrived half an hour later.
Out of the 476 passengers, 213 people had been confirmed dead, while there are still 89 remaining to be discovered. Search and retrieval operations are still being conducted to find the remaining passengers.
Gianna Jun had been known to be one of SoKor's most generous actresses. She even donated a portion of the money that she and her husband, Choi Jun-Hyuk, received during their wedding back in 2012 to a charitable cause.
The actress, who played popular roles in highly acclaimed movies like Il Mare, My Sassy Girl, Windstruck, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, also expressed her condolences to the families who lost loved ones by cancelling a public appearance scheduled on April 17, in Myeong-dong.
