"This win is for my son, this is the first tournament I won since becoming a dad," said Djokovic.

"Winning 600 matches is something nobody from our country did before, and even though we are all accustomed to Novak making new records, it's an incredible thing to win that many matches. It's also a big boost for us younger players to work even harder," said Serbian rising star Dusan Lajovic.

The 27-year-old Serb did not drop a single set in the whole tournament as Djokovic broke the seventh seeded Raonic two times in the first set and once in the second set.

Djokovic has extended his lead in the ATP rankings against Roger Federer and will maintain the No. 1 spot for a third cosecutive year.

Next up for the Wimbledon champion is the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London next week where he is a two-time defending champion.

The Citi Open winner will join Djokovic at the O2 Arena after Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament due to appendectomy.

Raonic secured his place in London after he defeated former tournament champion and second seeded Federer in the semifinals. His first win over a top 3 player.

Others joining Djokovic and Raonic in the eight-man short list in London are 17-time Grand Slam champion Federer, Australian Open titlist Stan Wawrinka, first Asian-born player to participate in the event Kei Nishikori, Britain's No. 1 Andy Murray, If Stockholm title holder Tomas Berdych and U.S. Open winner Marin Cilic.
