The plot of this movie begins as a group of ocean surveyors who earlier survived a crisis landing on a strange deserted island. The story evolves in the group's struggle to stay alive.
The Peaceful Island will be co-developed and made as a joint venture and co-production between different entertainment outfits from Hong Kong, China, and South Korea.
The companies involved in this movie include C2M and Tianjin Century Media Co., Ltd, which happened to be CJ Entertainment's usual partners in Chinese productions. They will also work with Huace Media from China, Hong Kong's Media Asia, as well as South Korea's Kodiz.
Just a year ago, CJ had co-produced the hit Chinese movie "The Wedding Invitation." They are expected to make three more Chinese movies this year. The South Korean entertainment outfit also invested in the Chinese version of "What Women Want" as well as "Snow Flower And the Secret Fan."
When the film started rolling, the cast and crew of The Peaceful Island had been undergoing production within different places of China. Some of the locations include Shenzhen, Beijing, and Huizhou.
The movie will be released in China within the second part of the year.
Furthermore, the international distribution will also be handled by CJ Entertainment.
CJ Entertainment will be representing two Korean films in Cannes Film Festival this year. One will complete in the Un Certain Regard category, titled "A Girl At My Door" by Jung July, and the out-of-competition film called "The Target."
