New York Knicks superstar forward, Carmelo Anthony, becomes the 40th player in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA) to cross the 20,000 point mark in a winning effort against the Charlotte Hornets, 96-93.

The achievement came quietly enough, as Anthony's first three point shot against the Hornets allow him to cross 20,000 points made. The 26-foot shot came early in the first quarter.

At only thirty years old, Anthony has become number 40 through 12 season playing in the NBA. The game against the Hornets marked his 793rd career game.

Head Coach and ex-veteran of the NBA, Derek Fisher, commented on social media saying that it doesn't matter what offense is run because Anthony will still score points.

In order to reach Wilt Chamberlain, currently fifth on the list with 31,419 points, Anthony needs another 11,419 points.

This would mean that he needs to score 1,900 points over six more seasons, a feat that he has consistently achieved in every non-lockout campaign since 2009.

It is clear that Anthony is in his prime, and time has not yet begun to bring him down or affect his skills.

His previous season was one of his most efficient ones, shooting a career high 40.2 percent from beyond the arc and having the second-best field goal percentage in his career with 50.3.

This past summer, Anthony has signed a five-year deal with the Knicks and is likely to keep advancing in the all-time scoring ranks with the team.

That night, he led his team to the win against the Hornets with a 28-point performance. Amare Stoudemire recorded the first double-double of the Knicks' season, scoring 17 points and contributing 10 rebounds to their efforts.
