Chinese actress, Maggie Cheung, who was dubbed to be among the greatest movie stars to have surfaced in Hong Kong decided to venture into another side of entertainment.

However, Maggie had an epic fail when the great anticipation of the audience turned to greater disappointment.

Multiple media outlets reported that there were thousands of people to witness every act and were disappointed when Cheung started singing in which fans say was out of tune.

Ms. Cheung has revealed her new rock band during the Strawberry Music Festival in Shanghai on Thursday.

She did a rendition of Tian Mi Mi from Teresa Tseng, Stay by Rihanna and sang an original, Visionary Heart.

A Weibo user who attended the festival said that when Maggie started singing, the audience went mum.

One person stated that the 50 year old actress would hit the headlines the next day; another added that someone has outdone Cecilia Cheung while a third commented that Cheung's voice was God-forsaken.

Maggie was awarded Best Actress during the Cannes Film Festival for her movie Clean where she also performed a song number.

A lot of people were reported to have walked out while Cheung was performing on stage, reported Shanghaiist.com.

The report continued saying the Chinese actress had been known for her low-pitched voice but she just didn't nail the shift of her stint from acting to singing.

Strawberry Festival is a three day music gathering hosted by music label, Modern Sky, which is headquartered in Beijing.

The festival is responsible in bringing indie acts together in China, but got the crowd shocked when it announced Maggie Cheung would be singing with international acts including Justice.

The move to reinvent her career through a push on being a rock star had a draw on Maggie.

The organizer of the event said that Maggie and her band had been rehearsing for four to five hours per session which created a huge expectation.
