Recently, mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion Xtreme Fighting Championship (XFC) proposed a fight between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen. While Silva accepted, Sonnen did not and had other plans for Silva, like a professional jiu-jitsu match instead.
XFC is an American mixed martial arts organization founded early in 2006. They were interested in putting together the match between Silva and Sonnen that never materialized in the UFC. The group wanted it held in Brazil.

Pride FC Legend and Former UFC veteran Silva was recently a guest commentator for XFC International 7 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
When he was asked in a live interview if he was interested, Silva said that he was, and would go through with it if Sonnen was interested as well.
Sonnen caught wind of the news and responded via MMA Mania.
In an interview, Sonnen told MMAmania.com that in addition to his retirement from active competition, he plans to honor his current suspension from NSAC, which doesn't expire until mid-2016.
However, all hope is not lost in seeing the bad blood between these two fighters finally getting hashed out.
Instead, Sonnen is willing to battle Silva, not in a cage or octagon, but on the mat. He recommended a jiu-jitsu match under the Metamoris banner, should Siilva be willing.
Sonnen has already competed in a Metamoris event when he battled Jiu Jitsu world champion Andre Galvao last August 9 in a losing effort. He was submitted via rear-naked choke 14 minutes into the 20 minute submission only match.
Silva was originally supposed to face Sonnen after their coaching stint on the Ultimate Fighter reality series. The fight was moved later on to UFC 175 but then faded into obscurity.
The reason for the match never materializing is due to drug tests. Sonnen tested positive for banned substances while Silva ran away from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) who tried to test him at his gym.
This banned both fighters from getting licenses, and eventually ended their UFC careers.
