American Football and Soccer are on a global collision course. The National Football League (NFL) is currently holding games in London, while England's Premier League (EPL) desires to entertain in other countries as well.

This coming weekend, pyrotechnics and full-body costumes will come to London as the 2014 NFL International Series signs off with a third sell-out date at the famous Wembley Stadium.

The Dallas Cowboys will be meeting the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

This tour is the most famous one of the NFL, as the organization hopes to embed itself in the public imagination overseas. The NFL Chiefs and the London government are even supporting the idea of having an American football based in London for a few years.

The events will be followed closely by Richard Scudamore, the Chief Executive of the EPL. While the NFL is coming to London, he said that he would love the sport of soccer to entertain fans in New York and Shanghai as well.

He said that he wanted to send Manchester United and Chelsea as the teams to play.

This idea was already proposed by Scudamore years ago in 2008. He proposed a 39th game of the season--an overseas fixture.

An informal meeting in October saw EPL officials talk about the possibility of a single round of fixtures from the existing schedule being taken abroad as early as the 2016-2017 season.

The idea certainly is an appealing, which is easily seen in the amount that overseas friendlies have been raking in.

Manchester United earned a cool US $12.8 million over three matches in the U.S. last summer.

Other leagues are also looking for ways to cross country barriers.
