'Alex from Target' Appears On Ellen DeGeneres Show

Alex LaBeouf has made a name for himself this past week as "Alex from Target" after a photo of him scanning items at a Target store was posted by a Twitter user who took a snapshot of Alex without him knowing.

His name spread like wildfire after people spotted his name plate. Over the past week, the 16-year old Alex from Target went from having 144 followers on Twitter to a whopping 600,000 and that was just in a matter of days.

The instant social medias star also captured the hearts of many teenage girls and now has a devoted fanbase along with the dozens of memes made of him and posted on the parody site 9gag.

The Dallas native appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show just this Wednesday. He came out of the backstage wearing Target's trademark red and khaki uniform to talk about his recent shot to fame.

During the interview, the now-famous Target employee revealed that he has only been working at the said store for three months. He also talked to Ellen about how he had found out about his viral photo.

"My manager came up to me and she showed me the photo. I thought it was fake," LaBeouf began. "But then random girls whom I have never met before approached me and showed me a Twitter page of me with about 5,000 followers. I was really confused."

During LaBeouf's rise to fame, a man named Dil-Domine Leonares, the founder of a tech start-up called "Breakr," spoke to CNET. He claimed that his company was responsible for Alex's overnight rise to celebrity-like fame.

Breakr's claim has since been deemed as fake by Pop Culture website Buzzfeed. There has been no evidence that the startup had anything to do with the story featuring Alex from Target, the website said.
